All of the quilts I've made so far have been for gifts for others with the exception of one: the one I'm making for Phil and me. Over the past few years, anytime another project came up, I'd put this project for us aside to do the other project. It's been almost four years now since I assembled that quilt and prepared it for hand-quilting! I picked it up over the weekend and fell back in love with that project. I challenge you to pick up an old project you once loved and give it another go! It's so rewarding.
In the early stages of my quilting, I thought it was somewhat selfish to make something for myself. I've since completely changed my tune. Part of the reason I make quilts for others is so that they have something that will last for generations. Why build into friends' and families' generations and not my own? I hope this quilt (the third one I ever pieced, but the first one I truly loved design-wise) is one our grandchildren and maybe their grandchildren can appreciate someday!
