What a whirlwind of fun and excitement the past two months have been for me! In November, I was busily trying to make final preparations for the impending transition into parenthood, and we dove straight into our whole new life on December 2. Our precious Luke arrived safe and sound and is such a joy and delight! My parents and in-laws have made their rounds and today is the first day of the rest of our lives, just us three and the dog.
I did manage to get a few things done in November that I haven't had time to share yet. First and foremost, I finished the quilt top for Luke's quilt! You've seen most of the fabrics, but here's a sneak peek at the assembled top:
It's a little hard to tell from the low-res iPhone image, but it's a Flock block quilt through and through. I'll take better pictures and share the in-process images and experience once the quilt is quilted and bound. I hope to start hand-quilting this week.
We also had a great Christmas with our families and I hope you did, too. I got lots of great things to enjoy this year, but one of my most exciting gifts came from my sister: a gift certificate to Spoonflower! So now I need to start thinking about the fabric I want to design. Should it be Quiltivate fabric? Hmm. I'll keep you posted on what I decide to do!
In this new phase of life for me and this fresh new year, I am more excited than ever about the opportunities available to me. Quilting in particular is one of the most relaxing, fulfilling and fun activities I've ever done, so I plan to make time to quilt more often this year. The expertise and ideas from other quilters I've found online is such an energy-booster to me. I hope you'll jump into the discussion by sharing what you're working on and giving feedback on others' projects via the Quiltivate block pages and Quiltivate forums. I love this community and look forward to being challenged and encouraged by your creativity in 2009!
