Denyse Schmidt "Single Girl" at Pottery Barn!
Congratulations to Denyse Schmidt for scoring a run of the "Single Girl" quilt at Pottery Barn stores! Or, should I congratulate Pottery Barn for scoring a line of Denyse Schmidt quilts? I think Pottery Barn is the lucky one here!
I'm an unabashed Denyse Schmidt fan-girl, so this makes me really excited for Denyse and for the masses of Pottery Barn customers. Be sure to watch the "Modern Quilt Design" video while you're deciding which size of quilt you want to buy.
Pre-Washed, Pre-Pressed, Pre-Cut Fabric!
Stitch Simple has the best idea I've heard of in a while. They sell pre-washed, pre-cut, and pre-pressed fabric to quilters like you and me! I really, honestly love every step of making a quilt, but I always feel urgent to get through the washing, pressing and cutting so I can get to the sewing part. If I bought my fabric from Stitch Simple, they would send it to me immaculately prepared so I could just plop myself down behind the sewing machine and sew away. Such a great service, and very reasonably priced (only $0.40 for each 5.5" x 5.5" square).
Their fabric selection isn't massive at this stage of the game, but they do carry some really lovely fabrics including some Amy Butler and David Walker. I just might have to get my next quilt supplies from Stitch Simple. Is this something you would use?
Two Quilt Backing Tutorials
Kathy Mack has posted two fantastic backing tutorials on her Pink Chalk Studio blog. The first tutorial is for non-directional prints using a side-to-side method; the second method is a pieced method that is best for directional prints. Check 'em out!
